The rapid increase in the number of patients with dementia following an aging society has become a major issue. This is accompanied by social burdens such as medical expenses related to dementia, care expenses, and informal care. To develop prophylactic methods and new therapies of dementia, the identification of neural circuits involved in the onset of dementia using model animals that are phylogenetically, physiologically, and morphologically close to human are required. In this study, we will develop dementia disease non-human primate models using the common marmoset which is small, prolific and genetic modification is available.
