The Department of Neurosurgery is to establish new methods to analyze the functional brain connectivity in patients with Parkinson’s disease as well as post stroke patients. The biomarkers common available to disclose altered brain connectivity in patients as well as animal models will be investigated. The Department of Neurology develops animal models for Parkinson’s disease by administration of α-synuclein aggregate or MPTP toxin. The abnormalities of neural networks in these models will be investigated, and novel therapeutic materials to correct the abnormality will be investigated.
